Cobalt base alloy is a kind of cemented carbide capable of various types of wear and corrosion and high temperature oxidation, that is, commonly referred to as cobalt-chromium-tungsten (MO) alloy or Si-tai-li Alloy (stellite alloy was invented by American Elwood Hayness in 1907).

Cobalt base alloy is mainly composed of cobalt, containing a considerable amount of nickel, chromium, tungsten and a small amount of molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, Titanium, lanthanum and other alloy elements, and occasionally also contains a kind of iron alloy. According to the composition of the alloy, they can be made of wire, powder for surfacing welding, thermal spraying, spray welding and other processes, can also be made of cast forgings and powder metallurgy parts.
